USHAA Advisor Barbara George Johnson Appointed Director of John S. Watson Institute for Public Policy

Trenton, NJ - We extend a hearty congratulations to USHAA Advocacy Advisor Barbara George Johnson, Esq., on her appointment as Director of the John S. Watson Institute for Public Policy. Barbara has more than 20 years of experience as a public policy professional in New Jersey and has been a leading voice in shaping health and social policy in the region.
"Barbara is a committed and highly effective advocate on health and women's issues, and we are certain that her many talents will prove to be an invaluable asset to the institute," said Luis J. Diaz, USHAA's President & CEO. "Since it's inception, USHAA has relied on Barbara for advice on important public policy issues impacting Latinos and other minorities in New Jersey," added Mr. Diaz.
Prior to joining the institute, Barbara was managing principal of GOVCONNECTIONS, LLC and a Senior Associate for MBI-GluckShaw. She represented a diverse client base that ranged from the New Jersey Council of Teaching Hospitals to municipal governments including the City of Trenton.
Barbara was the first Legislative Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey. Barbara serves on many boards including USHAA and is a member of the Bi-partisan Committee for Women Appointees out of The Center for Women and Politics, Eagleton Institute at Rutgers University. She is also a Leadership New Jersey Fellow. Barbara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Technology from Cornell University, an MPH from Columbia University’s School of Public Health, and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers-Newark Law School.
